1. We are playing a show in Seattle on April 18th. It’s a concert benefitting America’s Firefighters and their communities and you can try to win tickets by listening to 96.5 Jack FM in Seattle. Good luck!

2. Next month we are heading into the studio to start recording a new record. I’m sure we’ll have more updates soon on that but we wanted to let you know the good news.

Just a few things to let you know about: 

1 - The ALL ATX “Back to the Armadillo” compilation that was for sale at the benefit concert last week is currently only available at Waterloo Records in Austin (http://www.waterloorecords.com). Proceeds from both the concert and the disc go to four Austin organizations working toward affordability issues for Austin artists: Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, the SIMS Foundation, Black Fret and the Austin Music Foundation.

2 - Last night WHYY-TV's 'On Tour' program featured a piece on the band...'On Tour' is an Emmy Award winning music and performance program recorded live on location at local venues in and around Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey....they filmed us at our recent performance at the Ardmore Music Hall in Pennsylvania.

'Best Friend' Video Premiere!

Hey everyone - 

'Today Glide is excited to premiere the new video for “Best Friend”. The video goes from a sunny California beach to a house party filled with eclectic characters where, of course, the members of Fastball are performing. “Best Friend” is a song that brings to mind simpler times when it was possible for bands to write straightforward, feel-good rock tunes. In this case, the band’s upbeat harmonies and jubilant guitars and synths take on an almost power pop sound. The video itself matches the the whimsical positivity of the tune. 

“Here’s some interesting Fastball trivia: the big green wall Joey walks past while looking for the party is the back of what used to be known as A&M studios – the studios where Fastball recorded their monster hit ‘The Way.’ When Joey told me that I knew that shot was going into the video come hell or high water,” says director Nigel Dick, best known for directing hugely successful videos for Guns N’Roses, Britney Spears and Sheryl Crow among others.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Fastball’s Miles Zuniga has this to say:

“Tony and I wrote Best Friend a long time ago in Nashville. We were recording with Adam Sleshinger. We went out and ‘jammed’ a bit on some progression, who knows what the original idea was but then we got the bright idea to loop one bar of the jam in a weird spot. It was sort of like a 3 legged dog. Then we wrote the song over that. Tony wrote the verses and I wrote the choruses. It’s an unusual song for Fastball because there are only three chords in the song and we normally have at least seven or eight.”

Final Show of the Year in Austin, TX!

Hey Everyone -

One More Round of Tour Dates

Greetings Everyone -

We’re back on the road doing some of our final dates of the year...

Today/Saturday/Sunday we’re in West Springfield, MA, playing a massive Fair called the Big E... our show is free with Big E admission and we’re on at 3pm each day at the Court of Honor Stage.

Then on Monday we return to the great city of New York... at City Winery... our pal Wesley Stace (AKA John Wesley Harding) will be playing before us... doors are at 6pm, Wesley’s on at 8pm, and we should hit around 8:45pm.

Tuesday Oct 3rd we’re at Rams Head in Annapolis.

Wednesday Oct 4th we’re at the Tally Ho Theatre in Leesburg, VA

Thursday Oct 5th we’re at Club Cafe in Pittsburgh, PA.

Friday, Oct 6th we’re at Kent Stage in Kent Ohio which the Summit, a great radio station, is sponsoring.

Saturday Oct 7th we’re at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe/Back Room in Kalamazoo, MI.

Sunday Oct 8th we’re at City Winery Chicago.

And then Sunday Oct. 15th we’re playing a free outdoor show in St. Louis for the Rock N Roll Marathon.

(August 22, 2017) Today, Austin’s FASTBALL makes their A.V. CLUB Undercover premiere with a tribute to the #1 Grammy® Award nominated title track of the 1980 film 9 to 5. The chart topping hit was originally recorded by Dolly Parton. FASTBALL's rendition is an unlikely addition the collection of this years Undercover performers.

The eighth season of A.V. Undercover, which launched this earlier this summer,  features favorite or soon-to-be-favorite bands doing covers of  your favorite songs.  Groups like Old 97’s, Passenger, Cloud Nothings, The Regrettes ,Phantogramand FASTBALL covering cuts by T-Rex, Dolly Parton, Fugazi, and Blink-182, though not necessarily in that order.  New episodes are posted every Tuesday at A.V. Club.

FASTBALL released their 6th album, Step Into Light, earlier this summer and immediately set out on an extensive North American tour with Everclear, released three singles and videos - including the award winning clip by Nigel Dick, Behind the Sun, which premiered withGuitar World - and is now headlining their own national tour.  Step Into Light, is available through the band’s own 33 1/3 label and is the first FASTBALL collection to get a vinyl LP release.

The August Update

Greetings everyone -

We hope your summer has been going splendidly.

Ours sure has thanks to you and everyone who has bought a ticket to a show, bought a CD or vinyl, streamed or downloaded the record and given us their ears or eyes over the past few months.

We’re happy and proud to have Step Into Light out into the world.

Next month we hit the road again…back to the west coast. If you live in Berkeley, West Hollywood, Pasadena or Agoura Hills we expect to see you out at an upcoming show! And if you’ve been itching to take a trip with an ol’ pal to the west coast, you can thank us for giving you the perfect opportunity for a September road trip.

At the end of September, we’re back on the east coast playing THREE nights at the Big E, a massive fair in Springfield, MA….before returning to NYC to play City Winery with our pal Wesley Stace aka John Wesley Harding. Come on out NYC….it will be a great night. We then hit Annapolis, Leesburg, Pittsburgh, Kent, Chicago and finally St. Louis, where we play a free outdoor show in the afternoon.

And after that we may be playing a hometown show in Austin…stay tuned for more details on that.

'Behind the Sun' Video Premiere

Hi Everyone - 

Today we are debuting the third and final video that the great Nigel Dick directed for us, for 'Behind the Sun' from 'Step Into Light'.

Here's what Miles had to say about the song and the video:

I wrote this one in open G tuning doing a Beatles White Album fingerpicking pattern. John Lennon learned it from Donavon in India. I learned it from an article in Guitar World one afternoon in Virginia Beach.

I recorded it one night at the Bubble, just Sean Rolie and I. I used an E-bow for that droney  stuff, Tony added a harmony later

Nigel Dick shot the video. We were out in Lockhart TX and it was hotter than hell. I started to moan after we shot 20 takes of the same thing and he said "You'd never make it in the film business, boy." He worked his ass off, 3 videos in 3 days. Whatta guy!

The video also won a Silver Remi Award at the Houston WorldFest International Film Festival earlier this year.

We traveled from LA today and play tonight in Honolulu and tomorrow night in Maui, and that will conclude this fantastic tour we’ve been on with Everclear and Vertical Horizon. Thanks to all of you who have come out to see a show, bought merch, said hi to us, etc. We love playing for you.

Canada was great and we are now back in the USA!

Tonight we're in Duluth, tomorrow Moorhead, and then we head to Wichita and West Siloam Springs before retuning back to beautiful Texas where we play in New Braunfels, Houston and Midland in the next ten days.
