Greetings from Austin TX
Greetings from Austin Tx!
How’ ya holding up?
It’s been raining for days now.
A little blue sky would be nice.
I’ve been record shopping. Here’s what I bought last time I went to the record store.
I admit this was an impulse buy. My impulse was excellent, however, and so is this record. This was most American's first exposure to Bob Marley via Clapton's cover of "I Shot The Sheriff".
I kind of went apeshit and bought a bunch of Clapton and Ry Cooder because they were used vinyl and only cost $5 or $6 a pop. That's what records should cost. Of course, I wandered into the new arrivals section and saw this
I'm a sucker for these new 180 gram vinyl albums when they're classic albums and I think both of these are so I plunked down the $45 for the two of them. I could just listen to em on Spotify but I love records so what the hell?
I read a beautiful book called "In Other Words" by Jhumpa Lahiri.
Jhumpa moved her family to Rome so she could master Italian and then she wrote a book. In Italian. Just like that.
I’m back in a songwriting game with my buddy Kevin McKinney and I’ve been cranking out a song a week. Kevin will throw out a title and then I have to write a song. It’s a simple way to get me writing, otherwise I’d just play endless games of chess and never get around to doing anything.
I’ve written 7 or 8 songs but this is my favorite one so far.
By the way, for those of you in Austin, I’m playing a show at Winflo. This is a cool gig.
It’s in an Italian restaurant and you can have dinner, a nice bottle of wine and after dinner I’ll come out and play some tunes on the guitar and piano.
it’s very intimate, I don’t do this gig very often, maybe twice a year, so come out if you can swing it.
Lastly, I want to invite you to visit our Pledge Music Campaign. I’d like to thank everybody who made a pledge already. There’s some cool stuff there so get it while you can before we pack up the tent.
“Step Into Light” will be out in May and we’ll be on tour then as well. See ya soon.
